🌸The cherry blossom trees lining the waterfront of downtown Portland were a gift from Japan for the dedication of the Japanese American Historical Plaza in 1990. I’ve spent spring after spring admiring the cherry blossoms around me and continue to feel alive each time they return to our waterfront and city. According to the Japanese American Museum of Oregon, the plaza was created to raise public awareness of the diversity of cultural experiences in America.
